Greener, more welcoming laneways

Leslieville Laneway Project

Status: In development · November 2026

Collaboration: The LRA, The Laneway Project, the Leslieville BIA and the Bruce Public School community, working with adjoining property owners and neighbours.

The Leslieville Laneway Project explores greening, placemaking and pedestrian safety improvements informed by the people who live beside and use the space.

The project focuses on the laneway south of Queen Street East, between Caroline and Rushbrooke, particularly the central stretch between Larchmount and Berkshire.

The aim is to make the space greener, more welcoming and more comfortable to walk through, including for families travelling to Bruce Public School. Conversations with adjoining property owners and people who use the laneway help identify opportunities and day-to-day needs.

Potential improvements include planting, placemaking and measures that support pedestrian safety. The next step is to develop the ideas with adjoining neighbours and project partners, and work through access, maintenance and implementation needs.
